Frequently asked questions.
What’s your handicap?
When I started exquisite mind golf in 2010, my index was still in the high 20s. A business coach friend said it’s not my handicap that matters but my expertise. After giving a talk to the Burlington Vermont Rotary, the first question was: “what’s your handicap?” Over the years with continued golfing practice and play and with continued application of the principles of em golf, I’ve brought my index down to a low of 8.5. With continued practice, play, and application, I anticipate that i’ll be able to lower it further.
What the difference between mind and body?
The mental game conversation is biased from the outset—a separation between mind and body is embedded in the language and the concepts we make from that language. While it seems there is a disembodied, immaterial mind interacting with a tangible, material physical body. I say “seem” because that sense is misleading. Mind and brain are not identical but whatever the mind does the brain is responsible for. The experience of the body is always processed through the brain and what we know of this body is influenced by mind factors—attention principal among them. Therefore, we must give attention to the body and the mind as they overlap and interact.
Is Dr. Kozak a sport psychologist?
I am a licensed clinical psychologist with interest and expertise in sport psychology. I got that interest from being an athlete and I got the expertise from reading the sport psychology literature and teaching an undergraduate sport psychology course at the University of Vermont. Because I am not certified in sport psychology, I don’t call myself a sport psychologist.
